This is part of a series of pictures I've made as a portfolio piece. I set myself the task of modelling units from Advance Wars, as if I was a modeller working at a video games company making a 3D instalment of the "Nintendo Wars" series of games for the Nintendo DS.

The model in the picture is the "high-poly" (by which I really mean high-er) version of the tank unit; you can see the original Nintendo DS sprite for this unit at the bottom right of the image for comparison.

This was modelled in 3D Studio MAX and textured in Photoshop, largely using the photographic images that can be found at [link]

This totally should have been Battalion Wars's art style.

Did you know that there are some modders trying to mod Battlefield 2 and try to make it look like the advance wars universe (Except that the game would be a first shooter)?

DUDE! awesome work on the texturing. still could use some extra little details on stuff like the guns, but it's pretty dead-on :D

Thanks, and I totally agree in theory. Thing is though, they were made specifically be to lowered to DS resolution (check out the picture in my gallery) so fine details are lost anyway when the textures are 64x64.
